Resurrection (Easter) Sunday

SYN "The Big Sleep is Over"

I went with Grandma, Grandpa, and my aunt and uncle to their Lutheran church for a sunrise service last Sunday.  We had a grand song service.  There were some songs I knew really well, and others that I kind of bumbled along with!  The preacher was racing from the back to the front of the church through the service.  He would lead the responses at the front, then jet to the back to play the trumpet or sing a solo!  Though, I didn't know 'til later that he was doing all three things!  Fortunately, he left the organ playing to someone else!

His sermon started with the Battle of Waterloo.  After the battle was over, the English sent a message back home that said "Wellington defeated."  The homies starting mourning the loss.  What they didn't know was that the weather had interrupted the full message, which was "Wellington defeated Napoleon."  Once the weather cleared up and full message came through, everybody (okay, so not the French) starting celebrating.  He compared that story to Jesus' story.  If you tuned in on Friday night, it'd be easy to get the message "Jesus defeated."  But come Sunday morning, the real story, "Jesus defeated Satan" comes through loud and clear!
